Our goal is to keep seniors safe, healthy, and independent in their homes for as long as possible. It's the little things that matter, but to some, the little things are actually BIG things.
It's a warm meal for a home-bound senior who isn't able to drive to the grocery store or prepare a healthy meal. It's looking forward to a knock at the door and the anticipation of someone to ask how your day is going.
This time of the year, it's family and noise and company that occupy our holiday thoughts and for those of us who have the luxury of entertaining a houseful this Christmas, let's remember the elderly in our community who may be celebrating alone. The programs Souris Valley United Way provides for them are vital. The connection they make is critical.
Meet Ed in our campaign video. He is 88 years old and was married for 71 years, until his wife got sick and passed last year. At 88 years old, Ed was now living alone for the first time and was physically and emotionally stressed. Learning to cook for himself was hard and simple tasks were becoming difficult. Ed and many others look forward to receiving these meals delivered by volunteers. Not only do they enjoy the meals, but they enjoy the human interaction, even if it's just a "Hello, Ed. Have a great day!" A simple hello that we all take for granted.
From Ed and many others, thank 'YOU' for creating their success stories. To sponsor a homebound senior meal is only $11 per meal.
Our Fall Campaign ends January 31st. Be the one to help us meet the community need of $657,000.
