Minot, N.D. — Souris Valley United Way, Minot Public Schools, and Minot Public School Foundation announce the launch of a Summer Food Program for children 18 and under. We are excited to offer a summer food program to improve the health and well-being of our community.” Ivy Thorson, MPS Food Service Director. “Good nutrition is key to the optimal growth and development of children.”
Children will receive a free healthy lunch starting June 15th- August 14th at Oak Park, Shelter #9 by the Splash Pad. Adults may purchase a meal for $3.00. The program will run Monday through Friday during the summer break from 11:30 am to Noon. Each healthy meal will follow the USDA Summer Food Service Program requirements. Souris Valley United Way donated $2,000 and Minot Public School Foundation donated $1,000 to pay for the start-up costs of this program. Special thanks to the Minot Park District for donation of shelter space.

MPS Nutrition Services is committed to providing good nutrition to our students. We are part of the National School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs. This year we have nine schools participating in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. It is our children for whom our program was established, they are our most important ingredient!
