SVUW Announces Grant Awards

 

Souris Valley United Way announced 20 local area programs will receive funding from the 2017 campaign totaling $302,564. Each program directly addresses the areas of Education, Financial Stability, and Health.
 
Grant recipients were recognized on Wednesday, May 3rd.
 
Monica Peterson, Board President stated, “I am pleased that SVUW has continued the tradition of supporting the many wonderful agencies in our region.  They make a difference each and every day by helping so many people.  Our Community Building Committee ensures that grant dollars will make a great impact on the communities we serve.”
 
“The message heard during the grant interviews was the increased demand for services due to the economic downturn.”  Rich Berg, Executive Director went on to say, “It will be important for us to share that message within our area during the upcoming campaign!”
 
Program applications were accepted in the following areas and awarded:

Healthy Behaviors $ 22,083
Healthy Nutrition for All $ 109,040
Mental & Emotional Wellness $ 33,000
Emergency Assistance $ 23,991
Promote Stable Living Environment $ 47,500
