United We Pack, Hunger Lives Next Door
MINOT, ND – August 26, 2015 between 2:00 to 3:30 at the Minot City Auditorium to witness over 300 volunteers package 50,000 meals of macaroni with tomato basil sauce. Meals will be donated to five local food pantries and four shelter programs in the community.
Souris Valley United Way understands that Hunger Lives Next Door placing a growing demand on the local food pantries. The event is sponsored by the local SVUW affinity group, Women United with a $10,000 donation.
Other contributors include Cross Country Freight Solutions, Hyatt House, Marketplace Foods, Minot City Auditorium, and North Dakota Community Foundation – Minot Endowment Fund.
“We want to give a big thank-you to our volunteers,” Executive Director Patricia Smith expressed her appreciation. “This event would not have been possible if wasn’t for the 40 volunteers who assisted with set-up and 22 teams of 10 that packaged the meals.”
United We Pack will provide nutritious meals for children, families, and seniors in our community. Recipients:
