Women United Celebrates May Day with Book Donations

Women United members prepared and presented over 1,000 books for their May Day Book Baskets Event. On May 1st, these baskets of books were delivered to area school children and classrooms.
Women United is honored to assist our local students to encourage a love of reading.
The children each received a book to take home and read with their families to help encourage reading and early learning.  Students who can read proficiently by 3rd grade are 4 times more likely to graduate from high school.
Kelly Loos, President of Women United, stated “In the vast words of Garrison Keillor, a book is a gift that you can open again and again.  We are pleased to be able to extend the opportunity to share this gift with the children of Minot to encourage reading.”
Women United is an affinity group through Souris Valley United Way. The group consists of passionate women who offer their time, talent and financial resources to improve lives throughout the Souris Valley United Way service area. They exist to mobilize the power of women to advance the common good in the Minot area.
The Women United group combines the financial power and collective talents of philanthropic women to address needs in the community.
